INFRASTRUCTURE - CBD Courts

The project includes the construction of a new building on the corner of Perth’s Hay and Irwin Streets, housing the District Court and Supreme Court criminal jury trials. The building will also be physically linked to the existing Central Law Courts, which will be refurbished as a separate contract to establish the new Magistrates’ Court. The $195 million District Court building will be constructed by a consortium including leading design and construction companies (Western Liberty Group) bringing together extensive experience in the delivery, management and operation of large infrastructure projects. Multiplex leads the construction elements of the CBD Courts Project. John Holland is responsible for the refurbishment of the Central Law Courts building. Cox Howlett and Bailey Woodland are the project architects with Lyons Architects bringing their experience in the specialist field of developing court layouts. AIMS is providing all court security and custodial services to the CBD Courts. Expected construction completion is in 2007.
